Uzbek Copyrights Agency
Today, I was contacted by Uzbek Copyrights Agency asking me to enter an agreement with them because apparently I am violating Uzbek copyright laws because I am offering Uzbek music to public without appropriate permission from owners who are the artists. He told me that I should either get permission from his agency or take down the music on the site.
I basically told the guy that I provided disclaimer on the site that MP3 files provided on the site are for demonstration purposes only and they are the sole responsibility of the users. I carry no liability about what they will do with these files. This site is not commercial because I don’t sell this music. I just provide it so that people around the world can get familiar with Uzbek music.
I just can’t believe the level of corruption in Uzbekistan and how this supposed lawyer wants to take legal action against the site which is based out of the United States. Watch out for further developments. Below is his letter in Russian. Also note that his e-mail address is coming from gmail domain. What a joke!

Посредством вашего сайта uzbekmusic.com доводятся до всеобщего сведения произведения узбекских авторов. В соответствии с законодательством Республики Узбекистан УзРААП управляет правами всех авторов и выдает разрешения на использование определенными способами их произведений. Предлагаем вам заключить соответствующее соглашение с УзРААП либо закрыть доступ к произведениям, размещенным на uzbekmusic.com без соглашения с авторами этих произведений. В противном случае мы будем вынуждены использовать существующие правовые механизмы для пресечения нарушений авторских прав с вашей стороны.

Well, I would be willing to pay a small monthly fee in order to support the musicians and your website because I like Uzbekistan too much, but why that person sent you that in Russian and not in Uzbek?! I find it offensive!
Uzbek 1st, then come other languages if you are in Uzbekistan or if you are Uzbek. No to more USSR behaviors!

Mualliflik huquqini himoya qilish agentligi yaxshisi Toshkent ko’chalaridagi millionlab disklarni sotayotganlar muammosini hal qilib olsin, uzoqdagi quyruqni orzu qilmasdan. Aslini olganda ham qonun bo’yicha haqiqatda mazkur sayt “www.uzbekmusic.com” mualliflik huquqini, ularning hurmatli egalari bo’lgan ijrochilarga nisbatan judayam qo’pol tarzda buzayapti. Sayt ma’muriyati bunga qarshi jiddiy choralar ko’rishi shart. Quyidagi har xil mayda chuyda gaplar, ya’ni ZET ning izohi
